Collage is not dependent on having mastered any special skills. It is a leveller.
Collage has become my go-to medium over the past 4 years. Starting with an idea, I go searching for interesting shapes, colours and images. Then I recycle the shards of paper to construct a new creation, piece by piece.
It is a surprisingly exciting process, as you have no idea what you will find and it is impossible to predict the outcome.
The final creation is totally dependent on what your eye spots and the harmony that develops along the journey.
“Collage allows your creativity to run wild. It allows you to combine any media to create something entirely novel…the world you create will be utterly unique to you”

I’m looking for accidental happenings. I’m waiting for a chance collision between one random thing and another - a picture of an antique silver spoon meets a hand woven basket from Malawi and suddenly there’s the perfect light and texture combination for a hare’s raised paw.
The eye is so darned clever. It joins the dots without being asked to, because our brains are wired to make sense of the shapes and colours we’re seeing - it’s highly suggestive and endlessly imaginative.
“The art leads the artist and it becomes an intuitive experience.”
